Hey Def,
The V2 motor has timing built in. The factory settings of the V3 is 5* and obviously CAN be adjusted, but i prefer the factory timing because you can gear the motor higher since the V3.0's naturally have more torque.
With the V3.0, i would gear if a couple of teeth higher to start.
