I noticed that after I read deeper into the thread, I'm doing the same thing with an inferno gt. If you plan on keeping it 2spd you can try the RC monster pinion holder or the one from fine design. The RC Monster pinion holder is shorter which gives you more room to move it back/forward but the Fine Design is light weight.

Which pinion holder are you planning on using?
