If your trying to achieve a 2.0 internal drive ratio, the best scenerio I have used and found was the 36 pulley's and an 18 layshaft pulley, with a 501mm front belt and an 183mm rear belt. Still using the middle rear diff holder's and also the straight arm's too. This combination put's the layshaft as close to the original layshaft postion, it is about 1 - 1.5 mm farther forward. If there was a 504mm front belt available (used with a 180mm rear belt) that would be the best combination.

I'm just leavin the arms the wat they are, it works.
As to my second question I got my hands on some tamiya parts and tryed it out. The 48mm axels work fine with the delrin spool, but will probably be to long with the alu. one. Found a picture of Marc Fischers car, he was running 44mm tamiya axels.
