Thanks for the reply... Thats pretty much what I had heard in general. 'try it standard first, then check the plug and see.' Just wanted to make sure that no one was doing the shim right off the bat.

And what I'm looking for in the plug is to see if the coil is compressed up into the plug correct? That is the sign of detonation I believe.
