if you take the back plate of the engine, is the crank turning when you are trying to undo the nut ?
I'll take a look at that, but I am pretty sure its the nut itself who is damaged. When I put a full turn on the nut in either direction I don't feel the compression of the piston getting to its TDC. when i turn the flywheel a full turn i notice the compression very clear.
