I think the pin spacing is the same between the two though, so if you carefully rewire the hyperion plug (one lead at a time, testing with a multimeter) in the same order as the align, you should be able to plug it right in. You might have to trim the plug clip to make it fit, and this will lose the keying that makes it impossible to plug in backward.

Getting the right balance adapter really makes the most sense:
