Lets say we have two springs and both are rated at 10 lbs/inch. One is 20mm and the other shorter at 17mm.

I have been told that the shorter spring will respond faster eventhough both springs have the same rate. Thanks for the help xman ! I would appreciate if anyone could give anymore input on this ! Thanks.

Also popsracer , I figured that the shorter spring might have been used to shorten the shock so a reasonable ride height can be achieved at the frond end. And yes it is very annoying having different length shock springs - for me at least !! I am able to get the same ride height/droop/ etc settings comfortably with the longer springs on the front shocks - but since so many manufacturers use a shorter spring in front I would just like to know if there is some other significant reason to do so.
