You dont want to support the local hobby store well then thats your business but i ask you this who do you think sponsors the club and main events this country runs ?
Is it Amain hobbies? rc mushroom? rc mart? Hobbyking? or any other online store from around the world ?No its your local distributor and your local hobby shop and the clubs that put in all the hard work that do this to bring events for you to run in and have fun .
N.s.w titles look at there raffle all the prizes are from local people not overseas and there is more than $10,000 in prizes .maybe if everyone supported the local there would be more prizes and more events and lower pricing.
You say in your comments that the lhs drive flashy cars that you pay for well mate you wouldn't have a clue as one day i would like to take you to Asia hong kong and show you what the people who you support by buying overseas drive and live in you would have a heart attack .I know the lot of them trust me.
I bet you also didnt know that any hobby shop or any business really in hong kong that sells products to outsiders(OUTSIDE OF HONG KONG) doesn't pay tax on the profits of sales only pays when sold locally ( its nothing illegal thats there system and law)I BET YOU DIDNT KNOW THAT .There are alot of things you just dont know thats why i said your post is meaningless and baseless as you dont understand the system.
The local hobby store in Australia is suffering from people like you who send your dollar overseas to save a few bucks but you dont understand that you are costing jobs how about if it was your industry being shipped overseas how would you feel then and you didnt have a job and couldnt pay your morgage or your car and couldnt do r/c which i can see you love?
The Asia markets can afford to be cheaper as there cost of living is low and they sell worldwide and they make most of there funds on delivery chargers .example 1.5 million customers a year ,add $3.00 per shipment per customer which a cusomter is not going to mind and the total is $4.5 million in freight profit thats how they work .Thats why they can add only 15% profit to the product as also they buy direct from manufacturers in china no middle man like a distributor.
We in Oz also have alot of things against us in business
1.High taxes example indirect
2.low population (big problem)
3 expensve freight costs
4.higher living costs
5.high interest rates which are higher for business if unsecured
6.lower wage increases .
7.lots of unemployment benefits paid for people who can work (big problem)
8 extreme business restrictions and laws.
9.highest rentals in the world .
and many more factors its not just greed as you specified.its reality sit down and do the math
In Aus to buy maccas it cost's the following 2 x double cheese burger meals large 2 x big mack meals large and 40 nuggets at the cost of probably $35 pr more do you know in hong kong and china what the cost is $15.00 only so there cost of living is even less and if it's traditional meals 8 people can eat for $20 at a flashy restaurant .Im just giving you some examples on how these people make money and save at the same time .
Come on dude im sure your smarter than that and your just having a bad day .But one thing i will agree with you is that yes there are some hobby shops with poor service but with a little education im sure they will come good everyone needs to educate eachother
SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW AUSSIE I SAY AND KEEP THEM IN A JOB .
Guys sorry for the long reply just stating facts so all caan understand
ps:yes i am a manufacturer and distributor and my Aussie dollar gets spent overseas buying stock but my dollar returns to stimulate the Australian economy were your dollar never returns .
I have been racing for a while now and overseas online stores have been the only reason I can continue to race, as I, like many of the other people within the hobby, have a very modest budget which I must stick to in order to pay all of my bills.
In order to buy all of the necessary items to allow me to continue to participate in the races, I must unfortunately resort to buying the majority of my products online as they are a lot cheaper.
If I was to spend my budget within the Australian stores, I would not be able to obtain all of the necessary items I need to continue to race and therefore I would have to give up racing all together.
With regards to many Australian stores I have purchased from, I find the service to be very slow. I telephoned an Australia store last week and was assured that the product I needed would be delivered by Thursday last week to enable me to race this weekend. On the basis of this assurance, I ordered the product from this store. I have not received it yet and as a result I am unable to race this weekend.
If it was in fact just a diffence of a few dollars in the prices, I would purchase everything in Australia. However, many of the products have a price difference of up to $175.00, and I simply cannot afford to pay the difference and continue to race.
I would love to be able to support the Australian industry, and I realise that the owners of these stores have monthly bills and mortgages to pay, but I'm sorry to say that my bills and mortgages must take priority.
If I was to ever enter into business ownership, I would only do so in an industry that I have thoroughly investigated and satisfied myself that I have a reasonable expectancy to earn profits that would at least allow me to pay my monthly bills.
It is very unfortunate that owners of local Hobby Shops are struggling. If I was in this situation, I would cut my losses, get out of an industry that apparantly has not much potential of being successful, and get a job in order to pay my bills.
As I have said, I would love to be able to support the local industry and would welcome any suggestions anyone may have that would allow me to buy all of the same quality items I purchase online from a local hobby shop and stick within my budget.
