I have only been in this hobby for just over 12 months and my LHS has given my son and I good support from the start both in the shop and at the track. Yes things in the shop do cost more but I get stuff from the shop. I have also had one order from the US. This is an expencive hobby so I need to save money where I can to keep my son having fun and keeping him off the computer etc. I support my LHS because of the help I get.
