Maybe the engine company has some quality issues? I have ran several motors in now without any problems, and have had good life out of them all. (OS ENGINES gotta love em!) I work for a company that manufactures transmissions for real full size buggies, the boss would die of heart failure if he thought metal shavings were in our trannys.
dont Tranny's have other things that go un-noticed till its too late ? !

seriously , every motor purchased, i pull down. its safer that way. not only for shavings, but some tolerances also. i have noticed of late a few tight piston pins, which can cause all sorts of problems while running in. and can damage a piston on first run. also dont be too complacent, one was an OS engine, and a couple of nova engines.
