Run the 4 dot timing insert in the motor. Start RPM 2500, End RPM 9000. Shoot for a rollout around 3.2 inches. Run a couple of minutes and check your temps, then gear accordingly. The X-12 tends to run hot. In 17.5 foam TC on carpet, it ran quite well at around 200 degrees F.
