The major drawback could be parts availability. Kyosho parts can be hard to get, and although Im not familiar with Tamiya, could these be even a bit harder and pricier?
I deal with quite a few E-stores/TamiyaUSA that stock Tamiya/TRF parts since I got my 501X upon release along with my EVO IV. If it's not in the US, I can find the parts from a Japanese seller
and have it in hand within 4-5 days. Not worried about sourcing parts..
