If you race it in a SPEC class about all you can do is get a LIPO battery. All the SC trucks out of the box are pretty much equal as far as the stock motor goes. The key to winning SPEC races is to not make mistakes. Once you get behind, it's hard to make up positions unless other people crash. Your truck will be as fast as everybody else's (straight-line speed anyway) right out of the box. You just have to learn how to drive it fast around the corners and over the jumps.
