As the temps here on the east coast have started to rise (75*f) I have experienced some mystery flameouts with the OD 97T. I did alot of testing with colder plugs this weekend, O.S. RP6, P7, and OD 99T. Maximo (Neal) and I have come to the conclusion with the mods and compression I'm running I needed a colded plug, I found the OD 99T to be the best. I ran a JP1 in truggy and a JP3 with RB carb/7mm restrictor in buggy. I had no problems doing 8 mins in my 20 mains, I didn't want to push it for 10mins and run out of gas. The JP1 is great for lowend but I also feel it lacks topend over the JP3, I would carry one of each to change out if needed on the size of the track.
They was a sea of other engines out there this weekend, you name it it was there! A distance friend of mine got out of his pit chair to come see what engine was making all the noise coming down the straight. It was my modded JL that caught his ear, he came over to me after I was done, he could not believe the exhaust note, he said it was like the engine was talking!!!!
I also had some mystery flame outs yesterday. What sucked the most was that my Clocked JL was awesome all day through practice and both qualifiers. I qualified 3rd overall and then when the main started I flamed on down and quiet, and then 3 more times during the race!! I was so pissed I called Neal and he said it could have allot to do with the Odonnell plug. Even though I put in a brand new plug right before my main. Im going to switch to Picco, or OS plugs only and see if that makes a difference.
