For a Novak 10.5 (4200Kv) it states: The ideal final drive ratio for this car and motor is about 8:1
And for a Novak 8.5 (5000Kv) it states: The ideal final drive ratio for this car and motor is about 9:1
I think it is pretty accurate. I am guessing it takes into account the different attributes of each motor and calculates based on that. I was running a Novak 13.5 before and geared it at 76/27, it felt great to me. This site says that 76/26 is .1% undergeared, so that seems to be pretty accurate info
