Actually, the rm is probably fine for carpet unless you are consistently racing at very high traction (black groove) events. Low/med traction carpet really calls for the fiberglass parts, and it also helps to calm the reaction down.

As far as availablity, there are old 103 chassis on ebay all the time that go for a song, especially if you are just looking to get the chassis parts and a few spares.
