I just recently retired my original DX3 for a new DX3R because I wanted to add channel mixing. This radio is amazing! super easy to set-up and adjust. Very versatile, I use mine for 1/8 scale electric with the aux channel running the brake servo, believe its the only Spektrum that can mix throttle channels, DX3S only does steering(4ws for crawlers).

If its in your budget the DX3R is a great choice!
