I will not disagree with you, Monty. Personal I do the pitstop a little different:

Find out how long your car can run a tank of fuel in the qualifications. Let’s say it is 9,15. Now, you can't make pitstops at 9 min. Depending the track size, a 8,30 pitstop strategy will be save. If you then run a 30 min. final, I would pit at 8,30 of 3 reasons:

1: You won't get into much traffic in the pitlane.

2: The final stop should be at around 26 min. Your mechanic can make an even quicker stop, because the tank doesn't have to be filled up to the very top of the tank.

3: If you get into trouble in the final, you perhaps can drop the last pitstop and gain approximate 10-15 sec in the final result.
