What is the big deal about a "brace" under the motor. I have had about 10 converted 1/8th scales and never used a support under the motor. Never broke or bent a mount, what I have seen however is someone using a "support" had enough chassis flex to snap the bottom mounting screw off in the front of the motor.

I put a support plate in mine and promptly strip the lower motor mount screw out of my Tekin. I took it off and and spun the mounting end bell and no more problems. I think the chassis has too much flex to isolate the motor effectively making it a stressed member.
