It's simple really, a 4wd drive train has way more moving parts, more diffs, more drive shafts, more bearings, etc... Moving parts means maintenance. They also weigh more and accelerate harder so when you hit something with one you hit harder and therefore parts take more stress. We're talking about 1/10th scale here. 1/8th scale is a different story.
