I know the base settings on the P5 are very rich from the factory. Try this instead:

HSN- 3.25 turns out from seated

LSN- 3.5 turns out from seated

When seating the LSN, do not screw it in until you can't turn it. On nova carbs, the needle will damage the nozzle if you screw it in that far. What you need to do to seat it properly is turn it in 1-2 hours at a time pushing the slide in and letting the boot push it out slightly. When it gets to the point when the needle sticks inside the nozzle a little, the rubber boot will not have the strength to rebound the slide. That is the true seated position. To test it, turn the needle another 2 hours and you should have a difficult time pulling the slide out. That is too far and you need to back it out to where it was and then start to turn the needle out to 3.5 turns. Depending on the pipe you are running and the temps you are running in, the engine may need to go slightly richer or leaner but that will definately get you into the decent but conservative running condition so you can at least finish the breakin process.

The HSN you can seat the normal way and back it out from there.

This should get you going in the right direction. Let us know how you make out.
