The 710 does work well with yellows judging from my limited amount of track time with the car. For me it all depends on how smooth the track is apart from what you and D mentioned.
With the 705 I constantly used the reds because I could easily find grip using foams but needed faster response from the car most of the time not to mention stability. The 705 was simply too heavy and sluggish for my liking.
On the other hand, I was once in a race where they used an old outdoor roller-skating rink and I had to use yellow in the front and while in the rear with the gold pre-tension/progressive spring set-up just to complete one lap without skidding!
