The battery doesn't sit any further out, the narrower chassis just makes it seem that way.
Wrong put both chassis plates side by side and your see the mi4lp chassis pushes the lipo out around an extra 6mm away from the centre line of the car
you could achieve the same thing if you hang the lipo over the side of the standard chassis though
