I have the "older" 5955 and have been running it now going on year 4 with zero issues. And it takes direct lipo as well (many dont know that) same with the 985.

Good shoice on servo brand. One thing i have learned in my years of r/c, dont skimp on electronics. I dont run regulators or cut offs. Just to give you an idea. A month or so ago we had a 5 hour truggy endurance race. I was using a 2s 2000mah lipo running a 5955 and a 985, we did battery changes every 100 minutes (1 hour and 40 minutes) and still had time to spare. 100 minutes will last you all day at a race.
