I just go to the races with the same relaxed, laid back attitude that I have everywhere else. It works well for me at the track. In addition, if I receive advice from someone more experienced and faster than myself, I'm inclined to take it and actually put it to use.
As far as what I expect from the hobby every time I go out: fun and perhaps a little bit of an adrenaline rush.
