Any added weight to the wheels adds to unsprung weight which confuses the suspension. In addition, that weight transfers more energy and stress to those components immediately around it. If simply putting heavier wheels on a race truck would increase performance, wouldn't the TORC trucks and Lucas Oil race trucks just run solid steel wheels instead of aluminum? Any added weight to a performance vehicle must be as close to the center of the chassis as possible.
