You'll probably need a motor that could handle 3S LiPo minimum. From there it's just getting the appropriate ESC, gearing and battery. Battery should be able to output 70A+ so probably a 30C rated pack.
Mamba 5700kv + 3S 5000mah 30C LiPo should get you beyond 70mph if your car is able to stay on the ground. The Traxxas Bandit VXL is capable of 70mph out of the box and it's only using a 3500kv motor.
now thats what im talking about lol. thankx for the basic guideline. my car came stock with a 75a brushless esc and a 3300kv motor. its can handle 3s lipos. i think im very limited when it comes to gearing though. for the exceed cause they only have one size spur gear. least that i could find. looking for a new car now
