Being as that I highly doubt that a sponge can absorb water at a higher density than it is in its natural state... and being that the sponge itself has an unsaturated volume without having any water absorbed... The ocean would have to be less deep than it is with them... because you're dealing with the same volume of water stored with the same density... minus the volume of the sponges themselves!
