Your balance lead should look something like this
Except for the fact that it would have an extra wire right next to that skinny black one. One end of the middle wires go to A/B balance port on the pack and the other end goes to the balance plug that connects to your charger. The layout/order of all 4 wires is the same on the plug as it is on the batt. So...neg-A-B-pos on the batt, and they'd follow that same layout in the plug that connects to the charger.
The lead in the pic is for a 2 cell and the balance plug and leads on the left go to the charger's balance port and +- charge connections. The leads on the right go to the main +- ports on the batt, and the skinny black one goes to the balance port in between them, as a 2 cell only has one "balance port".
All the wires on the right have to be connected to the batt. Only the balance connector on the left has to be connected for "balance only" mode w/out charging. The main leads can be connected w/out the balance plug being connected if you want to use "charge only" mode w/out balancing.
Some people that opt to have their main leads soldered to the pack and use a (female) Deans (or whatever) connector on the pack, replace those main +- bullet connectors on the adaptor/balance lead with a (male) Deans (or whatever) but they still have to be plugged in.
Sorry bout the wordiness.
