I wonder what caused the fire. Perhaps no short-circuit protection, or mis-configured wires? Bad soldering (loose connections causing short-circuits)? etc. I also wonder about the shocking. With a properly-grounded modern PS (that's well wired as well), that should not happen.

Even then though, I agree that commercial PSes are a lot better direction to go in the long-run. I eventually plan to "upgrade" to one once my other major purchases have been made.

I'm glad I haven't seen a NiMH explode yet. I've heard they go quite spectacularly as opposed to just "fire starters" that lipos tend to be.

Well, there's no way I'll argue that point . I definitely plan to upgrade to a "real" commercial PS eventually. In the meantime though, I would rather that $60-80 go towards a radio or lipos .
