Just get the Futaba S3004, it has a single BB and is proven. They only cost like $13. You don't need metal gears especially onroad cars.
For minis probably not, because there is a lot of slop and give in their steering, but for a touring car you need a strong servo if only to make sure you don't destroy it in a crash. Sure, good savers help a lot, but they can only do so much.
