You can use the 2nd from outside hole for the shocks. Just use a different plastic "ball" in the shock-end. Use part A-F instead of the standard A-E. Both of these parts are located on the shock plastic parts tree A (page 20 in SD SSG manual) but the A-F part is not normally used. When you use these parts the wheel will not hit the shock-end.
