No they're just a ring external diameter is the same as the one of the pulley and the internal is sligthly bigger than the one of the outdrive and you stick them to the pulley, so it works more or less like the X-Ray ones and the dirt hardly comes in. Only thing is that when you want to clean your pulley while rebuilding the diff it's better to take them out and then put a new one. I think they're 600Y for 2 diffs so it's not that expensive.
