I just got myself the SE - finally.
As far as I can see the differences are steel tiedrods (not nitrate coated), standard outdrives (not lightened) and maybe the shock cases inside (no teflon coat?). Not sure about the last one.
I can easily recommend a new SE instead a used TKI. Build yourself and you'll have fun building it and learning while building.
