Can I assume that "reshimming it" and "redo the gear mesh" are the same thing?

If so what is it and what is involved in doing/redoing it?
They are not the same thing. Gear mesh is the space between the clutch bell and spur gear this takes time to set properly and will need to be reset everytime you pull the engine without a quick change mount. Re shimming the clutch bell is only necessary when you remove the bell from the engine. The shimming here is done via small washer like shims that take up extra space on the shaft of the engine such that the bell only has a very small amount of play .5-1mm. Too much play and the clutch bearings will fail quickly. As with the bell being too tight and not enough space sake thing the bearings will fail quickly. Clutch bell shimming is not necessary every time you pull the engine, only when you pull the clutch bell to heck or. Hange the clutches and or bearings.
