I just used this method on my polished AE FT 2035 and WOW. My pipe had 2.5gallons of use on it, with lots of stuff baked on, looked terrible, header was almost completely black on one side. Went over the BigLots and got a crockpot for $19 and got a gallon of antifreeze, boiled overnight. Went out this morning, emptied the AF out of the pipe and header, cleaned with simple green and then polished with mothers mag/alum polish. I wish i would have taken pictures of it b4, but here is the after:
