You should be good. There are tools that you can get to press the pins out and replace them. However usually the other end is pretty worn by the time that happens. I had probably 10-15 gallons on my origional 1.0 front shaft before I changed it. Don't ask me how, but it lasted for me. It seems to me that once they wear at first, they will hold up decently for a long time.
