2 more you might add to your list to try out. Nomadio Sensor and Nomadio React. I have friend with a react and I like it a bunch.. And, would get one if I didn't like the 3pk so much.. The sensor looks akward, but I've heard they are well balanced..
Nomadio's are getting hard to find.. Used is about the only way to find one. I have heard Nomadio is starting to manufacture these again.. They took about a year of from making them for some reason. Too many military contracts ro some junk like that..
If you like the feel of the DX3r you might try the DX3s. Same basic shape and feel, but much much cheaper. I know it doesn't offer on board telem, but in a race i don't think your gonna be looking at the screen that enough for that kinda stuff anyway..
-The DX3R is very well balanced. I won't go back to a big heavy radio again.
-The DX3S has telemetry the DX3R doesn't.
-The DX3S is DSM1 and the DX3R is DSM2 (pretty sure)
-I don't know that I would buy a radio from a company that stops making them on a whim, CS could be a problem. I haven't heard anything bad about Nomadio though. (never see too many around

)
-One nice thing about Spektrum stuff is that if you ever plan to buy any Losi 2.4ghz stuff thier receivers will bind with any of the Spektrum radios. They won't bind with anybody else's 2.4ghz though.The Losi stuff is made by Spektrum.
