We have had similar problems with the Quark and LRP ESC's. It does have a bit to do with the gearing as it is quite low with 17.5 motors. With the speed passion motor we re shimmed the rotor so the rotor sits closer to the sensors. This helped with the cogging a fair bit. Im not sure about the Orion motor, could be a similar problem to the SP motor so might be worth a shot.
