I just took the radio apart, pulled the stock batt tray, cut the wires goint to the tray for tower and soldered in a female servo lead. I use a lipo rx pack and 1/8th buggy tire foams to take up the extra space.
I have do the same thing but with a 1S3000 lipo ( 3.7 V ), it's a Tony clark lipo for Gaz ignition motor.
