Temps in R/C are all for reference. A cheapo one like the one listed above or a duratrax one you should be able to get at any hobby shop for around $25 should be all you need. My buddy had a $300 exergen gun that works awsome but truthfully if the temp was off by 5 deg it wouldn't really matter for temping electric or nitro motors.
