Not really. The thought has crossed my mind! I don't have cad, but it would be easy enough to replace the the 2 17T outer gears with beveled gears and a shaft with beveled gears on the ends. Best of both worlds input shaft for motor response and front and rear pulleys for smoothness. It would only take a couple shims to make it tighter or looser on the shaft ends.
