I think there is more to it than getting engine cooler so you can lean it out.
Just because you get an engine cooler does not mean it will perform the same when you lean it out. I know that's not very a technical explanation but best i could come up with. Maybe some engine guys can chime in. I bet Mr.Twister would have some input on this.
