I've charged my 1100mah packs for my mini-latemodel at 2.0-2.5 amps and peak them at 3 amps with no problems and they don't get hot but they do get warm. Can't tell you what temp. I mean by warm because after almost 20 years "I just know". 1.5 amps is probly safer and will give longer life to the pack.
