I would agree a temp gun would be for the uninitiated, or for communication purposes just so that both people are speaking the same language, but from a tuners point of view, with time and experience most people just need that added reassurance that everything is in check.

I still do it from time to time mainly for breakins but race level it goes by hear and sound and performance.
