I run 2 Futaba systems - a 3PK and an older 3PJS. I bought a 2.4 FAAST module for the 3PK and its complete, comes with rx. The module snaps into the radio - the better futaba radios use snap in type modules, AM or FM or 2.4GHz. They use a regular rx batt just like an FM setup does. Only diff is the antenna is only 6" or so long. Don't have to raise it, can leave it lying in teh shell somewhere where it can't get damaged.
FAAST takes a few sec to go the bind process and its done until you change radio. I bash and rarely get to run with someone. I run mostly FM and have no issues other than the required dealing with crystals. This is futaba's entry level 2.4 TX

My 3PK was bought used and its never been a prob and was a super deal. The FSFT forum here has 2/4systems all the time.
