I use a couple of different brands of rechargeable AA's. Never had an issue charging all 8 at once with my Pitbull Charger, at .9 amps with .036v total cutoff. I've had the same set of Energizer 2500's ever since they came out about 3+ years ago.

I run the Pitbull off of a Pyramid 25 amp power supply with adjustable voltage. I just make sure the voltage is right around 14-15 volts, which is similar to a real car battery with the engine running.

Another brand I've been using is called Lenmar, which I picked up at Fry's in Sacramento a couple years ago... They are still very alive and kicking too. A set of 4, 2000's lasted over 7 hours in my Dx3r.
