Bob, when was the last time you saw someone win a race with a motor that had a hundred runs on it?

Motor timing: You set it once, unless you try a different setting
ESC timing: Same as above, and even easier to change
Firmware update: Welcome to the 21st century Bob!

Brushed motors: Yes, you did similar things with brushes and such, but you did them every run!!!

Something else I noticed at my track. Between rounds, racers are walking around talking to other racers, not bent over their comm lathe's getting every RPM they can find.

Brushed motors belong in a museum, next to that RC12I
