You don't go to brushless because it's faster. You go brushless because it's easier.
If you don't take into account NOW having to know throttle profile, firmware updates, esc timing, motor timing, in addition to rollout... yea, it's a lot easier. The days of just randomly asking somebody "what's your rollout" are about done without a list of 4-5 additional qualifying questions to go with it.
This of course took place over finding a brush, trimming it your way, springs and dyno tuning it.
In either scenario, brushed or brushless, you could leave it in the car with no work if that's your bag. But there is more to be had when tweaking things in either scenario.
I suppose it's the same in the end. Either way, you're gonna have to put in some time if you want to take it to the podium.
