We are coming up on the final event of the first Northeast Grand Slam, taking place at The Track in Gaithersburg, MD on February 20-22. We would first like to thank everyone who participated at any of the races. It’s your love of racing that will keep our hobby alive. We would also like to thank each of the three tracks that joined us (The Gate) in hosting an event; Fastcats, 360 Speedway, and The Track. Finally, without our sponsors, we don’t have a series. There will be a few special features to this final event. The first will be the Chicky Challenge. Parma will be supplying slot cars for racers to take their best shot at 3-time Slot car World Champion, Paul Ciccarello. If you can beat Paul’s laptime on Mimi’s slot-car track, one of your race entries will be refunded to you. The Chicky Challenge is tentatively planned for 8PM-10PM on Friday night, during late-arrival practice (subject to change).
The second special feature will be the presentation of awards for the Grand Slam. All racers who participated in at least 3 events will receive and award. We would like to thank John and Pam Catricala for providing the awards, and they will be distributed upon the completion of the Mains on Sunday. So please stick around for your award and photos if you’re eligible.
In addition to the above, this final event has become a perfect “Warm-Up” event for the upcoming ROAR Carpet Nationals in Cleveland. You will be seeing many of these same faces at both events, so don’t miss this opportunity to get yourself dialed-in.
Finally, Mimi Wong and her crew at The Track have been working very hard and are proud to be hosting this event. This wonderful facility has been host to a ROAR Nationals and countless large Regional events. It’s been the support of the racers that has helped keep this track open for so many years, and we would like to be able to return to ALL of our participating locations in the future.
